JKUAT Taita Taveta Campus

The JKUAT Taita Taveta Campus is located near Voi in Ronge Location of Taita-Taveta District in the Coast Province .

The campus is one of the youngest university campuses in Kenya. Currently the campus has nearly 600 students in degree programs and the number is projected to rise to over 1300 in the next 2 years. Since our emphasis is Engineering, Technology, ICT and Commerce we are working hard to ensure that appropriate infrastructure is put in place.

Future Areas of Focus: Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering.

Due to the fact that Taita-Taveta District and the Coast Province are some of the areas in Kenya with significant mineral deposits which can be exploited commercially, the JKUAT Taita-Taveta Camputs is being proposed as a centre for mining and mineral processing Engineering.

Among the economic minerals found in the area include, Titanium, Zirconium, Thorium, Limestone, Iron Oxide, Lead, Zinc, Copper, Nomibium, Rare Earth Elements, Phosphates, Tanzanite, Silica and Rubies. There is also suspicion that there are also oil deposits along the Kenyan Coastline.

To this end the Campus offers a Bachelor of Science in Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering. Certificate and Diploma Courses in Mining and Mineral processing are under development.

In line with this, the Centre for Mining and Mineral Processing Engineering will also require support from a number of Disciplines.

The supporting disciplines will be more than merely servicing units, instead we propose an inter disciplinary co-existence that will enhance quality and relevance of courses being offered. The proposed supporting disciplines are as follows:
